I found out my total cholesterol number is 180. Is that bad?

Yes, it's a good number. You didn't give me the breakdown of LDL, HDL, and triglycerides, but in general a cholesterol number that is less than 200 is considered good.

It's possible that you may still have high individual numbers, like high triglycerides, and you may want to talk to your doctor about your numbers, but it sounds like you're within normal range.

If you are interested in taking steps toward keeping your numbers low, it's always good to lower your intake of saturated fats, increase your dietary fiber, and consider adding plant stenols to your diet.
