Q: Calf injury and Zocor

Im on zocor ; and have type 2 diabetes. So Im out jogging; take a tiny jump and severely injure a calf muscle. It really seemed to injure too easily. Is this caused by the zocor? The diabetes? Im talking calf injury; not cramps; although I have had cramps in the past.

Hi Jazzmann,

Zocor (statin medications) do increase your risk for muscle injury. When statin medications are combined with certain other medications risk for muscle injury significantly increases. I recommend discussing with your physician to determine the cause and if it was due t a combination of medications or likely just the Zocor alone.
