Significance of high LDL with high HDL and low triglycerides
My LDL level has always been on the high side ~130. It has risen in the last year to 190. My HDL level , also usually high, has risen from 86 to 104. (My triglycerides are 53.) I'm a bit taken aback at the high LDL number. Should I be concerned, despite the other good numbers, and thinking about statins?

High Triglycerides
I had several stents. I also Had an open heart surgery in 2003 , since then I have. I have high triglycerides (389) despite taking both Zetia and Tricor as well as Omega-3 oil from flax seed & fish oil as well as 4000 IU of SLO Niacin. My other cholesterol levels are in check (LDL & HDL) I watch my food & exercise... Read more

My Struggle with High Cholesterol
I have been living with High Cholesterol for years and have been through many diets to compensate. Feeling as if the genes are the issue and trying to make the decicion to go on a statin to compensate.

Lipitor or Mevacor?
Presently take Lipitor for Chlolestoral, understand taking Lipitor prevents one from eating Grapefruit, as it tends to increase and retain lipitor's strength? Would like to be able to have Grapefruit now and then, would Mevacor allow this and still be effective as Lipitor is?
