Does my mother really need drugs for high cholesterol?

My mother's doctor has been trying to get my mom on medication for her cholesterol for years. I am perplexed, because her numbers are as follows: Total Chol. 267LDL 133HDL 104Triglycerides 151 With a ratio of 2.6, aren't those numbers actually good? Becky

Help with cholesterol that keeps rising

anyone with a suggestion, please advise. 45 year old brother in law that has had a heart attack and some TIA's is on 3 cholesterol meds (non statin) and his bad cholestrol has still risen to over 370.
