Atherosclerosis Disease

Swedish scientists say they've identified the genes that may
protect against the development of the artery-blocking disease
known as atherosclerosis. Bad cholesterol can build up in the blood
and cause atherosclerosis, which is a major risk factor for heart
attack and stroke. But researchers working with mice say they've
identified a network of 37 genes that works to lower these
cholesterol levels in the blood and helps reduce the plaque buildup
that leads to atherosclerosis.
