Adults may not be the only ones battling high cholesterol, experts say. Doctors estimate that 30 percent of teens have high cholesterol, either from poor diet or from genetic factors. Some doctors suggest that teens with certain risk factors should take statins to lower their cholesterol levels, and thus their risk of developing cardiovascular problems in their adult lives.
