People who take newer cholesterol and blood-pressure medicines may cut their risk of having a heart attack within 90 days of starting the drugs, a new study suggests. Researchers looked at 19,000 patients who took Lipitor (a statin) along with Norvasc (a blood-pressure drug). The patients reduced their risk of having a heart attack by 53 percent, and the benefit showed after only three months.
