Explain Results Of Cholesterol Tests

Test misses heart disease signs in women

The standard test for diagnosing heart disease, angiography, does not work for women as well as it does for men, researchers found. Angiography identifies arterial blockages but not narrowing of the arteries, which in women is a common result of high cholesterol. The test fails for about one in six women, the researchers said.
