Some insurers offer incentives for patients to switch statins

A Syracuse, New York newspaper is reporting that some insurance companies are offering patients incentives to switch from Lipitor to simvastatin, the generic form of Zocor. One insurer is providing members with a free one-month supply of simvastatin. The company has also lowered the cost of simvastatin to under eight dollars per month while charging over one-hundred dollars per month for Lipitor. Read more »
