The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers that three red yeast rice products marketed to help control cholesterol are unsafe. The FDA says the three products--Red Yeast Rice, Red Yeast Rice/Policosonal Complex, and Cholesterix--contain an unauthorized compound that can interact badly with other medications or cause muscle weakness and kidney damage.
