When air pollution is combined with high cholesterol in the blood, it increases a person's risk of cardiovascular disease, a new study suggests. Researchers in California say diesel-exhaust particles in air pollution combine with bad cholesterol to clog arteries and 'switch on' genes that cause inflammation in artery walls.
