Drugmaker Pfizer says that a recent analysis of insurance data found that patients who took Lipitor had a 14-percent reduction in the risk of cardiovascular events compared with patients who took generic Zocor. Researchers say the findings may call into the question the common practice of switching patients from brandname statins such as Lipitor to cheaper generic statins.
