Study: Children should have cholesterol checked

A British study has found that a simple blood test could identify children who have familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), a genetic condition that causes dangerously high cholesterol. The blood test could be given to children at about 15 months of age to look for abnormally high levels of bad cholesterol. Researchers say the test could identify 88 percent of FH cases, allowing patients to begin treatment for the condition early in life. Read more »
