Some Mediterranean diet ingredients healthier than others

Results from a new study suggest that some parts of the Mediterranean diet are more beneficial to good health than others. In a new study at the University of Athens, investigators found that eating large amounts of vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes and olive oil--along with avoiding the overconsumption of alcohol and meat--appears to help extend life. The researchers also found that eating lots of fish or seafood and limiting the intake of dairy products does not seem to increase longevity.
