Workouts help women cut cholesterol: study

A new long-term study has found that women who do as little as one extra hour of moderate exercise (such as taking a brisk walk) a week have lower levels of bad cholesterol than those who exercise less. In the study, researchers found that each hour of moderate exercise or half-hour of vigorous activity was linked to a decrease of almost 4 mg/dl of bad cholesterol in white women. For black women, the reduction was more than 10 mg/dl. The researchers also found that for postmenopausal women, the benefits of exercise to cholesterol levels were even greater.   Read full story >
