Statins may prevent gallstones

Results from a new study suggest that taking cholesterol-lowering statins may reduce the development of gallstones and the need for surgery to treat them. Researchers found that people who had been taking statins such as Zocor, Crestor, and Lipitor for more than 1.5 years experienced this protective effect, and that these effects grow over time.  Read full story >
