High cholesterol boosts heart failure risk: study

According to a new study, high cholesterol levels can significantly increase a person's risk of heart failure. Scientists followed more than 6,800 people for 26 years and found that the risk of heart failure was 29 percent higher in people who had high bad cholesterol levels than it was in those with lower levels. The researchers also found that heart failure risk was 40 percent lower in those with high good cholesterol levels than in those with lower levels.  Read full story >
