Researchers say young people who have even mild high cholesterol have a greater risk of developing calcium deposits later in life, a development that can trigger hardening of the arteries and heart disease. This finding contradicts the commonly held belief that even slightly increased cholesterol levels are not a cause for concern in young adults.
