Statins May Help Some with Normal Cholesterol: Study

Results from a new study suggest that cholesterol-lowering statins could protect people who have a so-called "intermediate risk" for heart disease. This finding specifically applies to people who have normal cholesterol but high levels of high sensitivity C-reactive protein, a protein linked to inflammation in the body that increases people's risk of heart disease by five percent to 20 percent within 10 years.  Read full story >
