I also have a tens unit and it does help with the Fibro pain as well as pain that I have from hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. A tens unit is a machine with wires and patches that you apply to the area that hurts. The tens unit gives off little vibrations to help stop the pain cycle. I think the tiny little shocks take my mind off the pain. I also take Lyrica for both types of pain that I have and have taken it for a few years now. It has helped a lot and is now FDA approved to help Fibromyalgia. For those of you not taking Lyrica you should talk to your doctor to see if it might be worth a try to help with your Fibro pain.

My wife had great relief by supplementing with magnesium citrate and Vitamin D-3. Many of us do not get enough magnesium in our diet (nuts, seeds, green leafy veggies, halibut) . Magnesium relaxes the muscles - . There is  product she uses called CALM.

thank you for the info, becouse at this point i will try anything for the pain. im sick of hurting everyday. where can you get this product called calm and do you have more info becouse im on so many meds as it is i also have mildly chrohns disease besides fibro and myofacial pain syndrom. for my age my body feels like its braking down im 34yrs old.

Check to see if your meds will cause magnesium deficiency - a lot of them do ,and if they affect your gut flora. You should be able to find CALM in a health food store that sells vitamins. I just looked at the container and the website for the manufacturer is  www.petergillham.com. You should probably talk to a naturopathic doctor about Crohn's . It could be leading to some of your other problems. If your stomach is not functioning properly you are not absorbing the needed minerals and vitamins that allow our body to function properly. A well functioning gut is critical to a well functioning body.

You asked for more information about Lyrica, the first drug approved for fibromyalgia.  Here are two links:

Drug Information for Lyrica

In addition, here's an article on Medications Prescribed for FM

You mentioned that you use massage, but have you ever tried myofascial release therapy?  It's a very gentle form of massage that usually works much better for people with fibromyalgia and myofascial pain.  Not all massage therapists are trained to do it, so you just have to call and ask around.  It's made a huge difference for me.  I've also found acupuncture to be very helpful.

I know it can take a long time of trial and error before we each hit on what works for us.  For me it's tramadol, myofascial release therapy, acupuncture and lifestyle adjustments.  I hope you find a combination that works for you soon.

You're very welcome, Missy.  I hope some of the info is helpful.  You're not alone with cold weather bothering you.  Most people with FM have a very difficult time when it's cold.  Actually any weather change can bring on a flare.  It seems to have something to do with changes in barometric pressure.  Many of us could probably predict weather fronts better than the meteorologists!

I hope you'll let me know what your doctor says and how you're doing.

im sorry ive havent gotton back to you about the lyrica. Iwas taking 75mg and ive started getting blurred vision. so my dr told me to stay on 50mg im fine with this but i feel its not helping me as when i was on the higher dose it was better, but becouse of side effects i cant go on higher dose. today ive over did it i had a cook out and my pain acted up just by getting things ready for party. now im in so much pain . i have heat on me and its not really helping. im just fusterated that i cant do the things i used to do before without making me helpless . as for just a simple cookout . or just even shopping. thanks for listeing
