I have had the radio frequency and chemical ablation in C2-C5 and I love the results! I had headaches EVERYDAY and the pressure was maddening. Some days my eyes and nose would run constant from the pressure. The denervation stopped all that and took the pain away from my neck. I am scheduled for RF for C6-T2 in a couple of weeks and though painful, I am really looking forward to having that pain go away.
My doctor told me that after the procedure I would "hate" him for 2 to 3 weeks because of the increased pain. In my case I only had a few days that the pain was elevated. Almost immediately the headaches went away.
For awhile all the areas affected by the nerves he burned were numb and that was weird to get used to, but most of the feeling came back with the exception of a small area on my shoulder. Numb and slight tingling to the touch is far preffered to the pain! You get used to it much easier than trying to get used to chronic pain.

Hi,
It would be helpful to know which nerves were injected.
I would definetely see an Orthopedist to get hip screened.
also, there is good research on manual physical therapy for hip pain. the hip can refer pain and if it is not working properly, can put extra strain on your spine, pelvis and SI joints after the mid point of the gait cycle.

I'm so sorry to hear you've had such a terrible time with pain. I hope that someone finds a solution for you very soon.
I had a sailling injury about 20 years ago & I injured my sacral joint, which, when it slips when I twist or bend wrong, it presses on L5-S1 & my sciatic nerve, sending that all too familiar pain shooting down my leg - but mine stops at my ankle - so very strange!
Now that I am older, I am having problems getting on & off the boat & the pain is returning as long as I stay overnight or for longer periods of time. I refuse to quit sailing. The pain makes sailing a lot less desirable, but I will sail as long as I can. There are days though that I have to take pain pills. I have had cortosoine inj. directly into my spine, but it didn't last - nothing seems to but the pain. Good luck, rest when it hurts too much.

I am so sorry for all your pain. My heart aches for people in so much pain. I don't have a lot of answers. I have fibromyalgia, which has changed my entire adult life, and sciatica, the pain there is sometimes excruciating. My doctor told me I have several compressed discs at the least in the lower back, but due to no insurance and on a fixed income, I am just not turning 65 and am getting insurance to check into all that's wrong. I certainly hope it doesn't turn out to be as bad as yours.
Just last night and today, I have had such pain from the mid back where I have scoliosis, down the back and into the legs, with muscles drawing so tightly that it is impossible to believe, causing extreme pain. I tossed and turned all night. I do stretching exercises and try when I feel this coming on. It's a completely different kind of pain than I've known before a year or so ago. Whatever you learn, please keep us posted on your sharepost because I am looking desperately for answers. A friend of mine has had the shots. They do help she has said. I will be watching for your posts and pray you find help soon. I feel so sorry for all the people who are not insured for whatever reason and have to endure such a cycle of pain. If you don't have insurance of some kind you are truly in a world of pain! God bless!

Hello. Sorry you are at your wits end. I am feeling somewhat the same way. I too am facing this same facet injection procedure. To see a video on it and read a description of the procedure, you can go to www.laserspineinstitute.com and view the video and read up on this. It is called facet laser ablation, I believe. I also have Fibromyalgia and Lyrica did not work for me. Neither has much else. I do not seem to be absorbing any vitamin supplements that would help both the fibromyalgia and the spinal arthritis and spondylosis that I have in the hip joints. And feel like exercising? HECK NO! I am doing great just to get through my day at work. I cut back to a 36 hour work week, just to try to get more rest. But I come home in pain every night. I have decided to go along with this facet injection, even though there is not a 100% guarantee of this working, AND I might have to have a repeat of the procedure for other nerves in the back. I also have sciatica, so I can definitely say I am where you are at. What really does get me through each day? Prayer and friends who understand, and sometimes some help around the house. May you be blessed in finding the right treatment for you.

Two years ago I had a lumbar facet injection for chronic lower back pain, as I
understand, the injection is one of several nerve blocks. It had no "no effect" on
my pain. The proceedure was quick and painless, as I was given conscious sedation. I have since had Epidural nerve blocks which usually give me good relief for about 4 weeks.
Good luck, keep up the research.

I am still dealing with lumbar problems and so is my sister. She had a total of seven (7) nerve blocks, laser surgery and she is in worst shape. I had 3 nerve blocks by one pain specialist and 2 by another and my pain is worst. I have Sciatica and Degenerative Lumber and I'm not letting anyone else touch my back! Yes, I'm in pain but I pray that God can help me to deal with it. I took care of my mother, she passed away in May of last year. That's basically when I began having problems. However, I use my cain and I do what activities I can. I did what I had to do for my mother, I have no regrets! God Bless anybody who is having pain and no INSURANCE! That is a major problem that people are going through now!

I also have had facet joint steroid injections but they didn't help me much. I was then offered nerve root treatment into the facet joints.The anaesthetist burned 3 nerves away under a local anaesthetic. I was sore afterwards for two weeks then I was cured for nine months. No pain. No painkillers, nothing. It was brilliant. Last month back pain returned. I called pain clinic and they have booked me in to get this treatment again. I would recommend this to anyone with chronic back pain it worked for me.

I just wanted to say that I already have been fused at level C5-6 and C6-7 and I also have lower back trouble with scoliosis. I dont know what levels are affected in the lombard region but I get major pain running all the way down my legs to my feet/toes. I get the strangest sensations all over my body that sometimes hurt like I am being stabbed, but at least they go away fairly quickly. Its the pain running down my legs from the sciatic nerve that drives me crazy. Either way though I have found that I can let the pain control me or I can use every tool possible to not let it ruin my life. I went to a class about teaching you how to relax different parts of your body and I have relaxation tapes/cd's that I can listen too or I try and stay busy so that my mind doesnt just think about the pain over and over. I am not trying to preach but maybe even biofeedback could help, I would check into any help out there for pain. I would be happy to talk with you again too. I will pray that you get better as well.
