I probably have six or seven spasms a day. They range from just a little annoying to moderately painful - nothing ever too horribly excruciating but they can be incredibly distracting. My job requires, on top of all this project managing stuff, that I be both creative (designing) and analytical (programming). When I'm programming I can sort of work through the pain of it all... it's not so much a problem. But when i'm designing it's so hard to work through it. Every ache and pain in my leg - I'm just incredibly aware of. It forces my mind to wander into territories that can distract me. Trying to think of the newest great idea isn't usually where my mind takes me (though it has at times)... usually I try to teach myself something. Something random but fascinating and distracting. Sometimes they are completely unrelated to my work, sometimes they are. I'm constantly finding inspiration from the strangest things... I never thought of my short sessions of browsing the internet as wasting time because I get something out of it at least... even if it displaces my other projects until I give it the proper attention it needs.
Long story short. My company is cutting off my internet access cause they think I use it too much (read: i'm a web developer ...). So does anyone have any ideas on how best to distract myself during these bouts? Any techniques that aren't so, apparently, 'unconstructive?'

GRZES:
I am so sorry you are having these terrible muscle spasms(where ever they may be)
But sometimes, when I am out "in public" and can't adquately express my pain I do 1 of 2 things. I either place myself in a place I feel is extremely special, which calms me down, or listen to a particular old piece or 2 of music(old I mean from the 70's) that had particular meaning to me back then. I hope this helps, are you on muscle relaxants? Something should be able to help you. I was a field auditor of taxes for the State I live in and also couldn't "drone" in any other way.
Good Luck and God Speed
