Survived camping with Fibromyalgia!

  • Hi everyone!

I got back from my camping trip and am pleased to say that I survived! Our site was great, so many trees and lots of privacy from the other sites around us. We also backed on to the trail to the hikes, beach, etc.

My first night was a bit rough as my brand new air mattress decided to leak. It's a huge queen size double high one too so as the air started to leak slowly over the night hubby and I would get trapped in the middle. LOL. I called my father who checked online for the nearest Canadian Tire (where the mattress was bought) and there was one the town of Fenelan Falls, about a 15 minute drive from Balsam Lake which was perfect because it was on our way to Bobcageon where we planned to shop and sight see that day. So the mattress was returned and I got a new queen size double high (of a different brand) and had no problems from there on.

Fenelan Falls and Bobcageon are both very pretty towns, lots of shopping in their quaint stores. Our puppy was even allowed to come in to some of the shops. He was such a good boy too.

Canada Day we did a mini hike at our camp ground to the nature look out. Wow, gorgeous scenery! We saw many species of butterfly and birds that we do not have back home. A lady we passed on the trail said she saw a black bear not too far away with her cub. That night just before going to sleep we heard wolves howling far off in the distance. A few species of woodpecker and some chipmunks were daily visitors to our campsite.

The weather was fantastic too and my pain levels remained fairly low. All in all we had a great trip! I',m now home until Saturday and then my husband and I are off back up to Northern Ontairo. We have rented a cottage on Lake Kashawigamog near the town of Haliburton for a week. We will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary on Sunday.

Feel free to take a look at the pictures from our trip

I'll read all the new share posts very soon. I have a ton of laundry and things to get done before leaving again this weekend. I hope you all are doing well!

Congrats on surviving the camping trip.  I am so jealous.  I used to take Stacy and her brother camping all the time, it was so much fun.  You are a real trooper to take it on when you are dealing with fibromyalgia.  I am so happy that you had such a great time.

Hi- sounds like a great trip. The pictures were awesome and reminded me of Honey Harbour. Glad the pain level stayed low. jack is thinking of Aerobed mattresses for the boat since the cushions we sleep on are pretty hard. I got really sore from the weekend, sailed to meet our friend and slept on the boat sat. night, came home to laundry, physical thrapy and worked 11 hours Monday. We got a motel room for last night cuz I was so sore. today we took a friend out for a little sail and lunch. You'll love this- my father owned a Canadian Tire store after we moved down here! I guess it's similar to our Sears or something. Glad you had fun- the next week trip sounds fun too!- Deb
