I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in September of 2006 at 22 years of age. Before then I spent a year in intense pain, anxiety and fear. Being so young (and trying to plan my wedding!) it had been very difficult to deal with what was going on with me. Why had my body suddenly changed? I felt so betrayted and after my diagnosis, while I did have some relief, I was also confused and angry. It is definitely not easy dealing with a chronic pain condition especially at a young age. People expect you to just be the same as you always were and have a hard time adjusting to the "new" you.

I have incredible family and friends but I still need things that are special and just for me. Some people think it's crazy how I can say that a person who I have only met once or twice, or have never met at all, can be an inspiration and souce of pain relief but I am living proof that it IS entirely possible.

Music has always been a big part of my life. My favourite band being a Canadian rock band called The Tea Party. After beeing a fan for 13 years Jeff Martin decided to end his journey with TTP and continue a solo career. His new cd came out right around the start of my journey with FM. He also was turning a chapter in his life. It was like we were on the journey together. Jeff's voice and incredible musical talent has the ability to take me miles away to a place where pain does not exist. I had the opportunity to meet him in the summer of 2006 and it was one of the happiest times in my life. It is a memmory that I can treasure forever and reflect upon for the rest of my life.

Another person who has been a huge impact on me is illusionist Criss Angel. Not only is he outstandingly talented in his field of work but is one of the most amazing human beings. His constant positive attitude and outlook on life gives me the boost that I need to keep fighting. Criss has taught me to control myself before myself controls me. He believes that pain is a state of mind and our bodies react on how we think. Positivity produces positive outcome. He believes that when the mind, body and spirit work together that anything is possible. Criss has opened my eyes to a whole new world and has taught me to never stop believing. I owe a lot to Criss, he has given me a whole new grip on reality and life. I

The following collage is of Jeff Martin(including the picture of myself with Jeff) and Criss Angel. Together these two amazing men give me the drive to keep going and be myself, not the pain. Along with the collage is text from both Criss (Belive and When the mind body and soul work together anything is possible) and lyrics from one of my favourite Tea Party songs (All you are is in you) Words to live by.
