Fibromyalgia & Back pain

Been dealing with a flare up this last week, most likely due to the severe weather changes. First chilly fall temperatures then a sudden high increase in humidity accompanied by rain. Now we are experiencing very cold temperatures with rain. I thought I was finally over the worst of the flare until yesterday when I awoke with an aching back. Mainly in the very center of my back. Over the course of the day the pain started to move into my lower...

Link between Fibromyalgia and Asthma?

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this. I have been wondering about this for awhile and have found the same question to be on the mind of a fellow chronic pain friend. I know that I have read somewhere, although cannot find it in the books I own, about a link between Fibromyalgia and childhood asthma. Both myself and my friend have had asthma since childhood and now are both chronic pain patients. Any thoughts?

Fibromyalgia and headaches

I'm looking at going back to see my doctor again about my chronic headaches but would like to go in armed with a little more information.I have suffered from chronic tension type headaches for the last 2 years, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2006. I have been taking Amitriptyline to help manage the pain and the drug has worked great for me. It really helped to reduce the headaches and my over all pain. However in the spring I started to...

Fibromyalgia & Body temperature PT. 2

Just wanted to post an update for you all.I saw my doctor today regarding my FM and asked her the burning question (no pun intented, haha!) "Why am I so HOT!?" She told me that there are a few possibilities. It could be thyroid related, a medication side effect (Amitriptyline has increased body temp. as a side effect) or it is very possible that it is just one of those nasty quirks that goes along with FM. She hasn't had many patients...

TMJ problems after camping

Today my jaw joints have been aching like crazy and I found a little hard lump about the size of a pea just at the top of the jaw beside my right ear. When I open my mouth the lump moves inward and I cannot feel it anymore. Plus the area directly infront of my ears (infront of the traigus) are very sore to the touch. The muscle down the right side of my neck (from the base of my ear to colar bone) is very sore as well and seems swollen.I...

Fibromyalgia & Body temperature

Just a quick question. Anyone else out there with FM find that you have trouble regulating body temperature? For me, it seems that I am always warmer. I always have the AC on in the spring & summer much lower than most people would and it drives my husband crazy. haha! He's walking around in jeans and a sweater while I'm hot and sweaty. I have always been a bit on the warmer side my whole life but have noticed that it is more constant since...

IBS & Probiotics

Just wanted to share a little about what has been going on with me lately. As you may or may not know, I have had IBS on and off for the past year and have had Fibromyalgia for almost three years. My doctor told me that there are medications I could try to help manage my IBS but not being very fond of medications, I opted to first try to manage symptoms with diet changes, etc.Things were going alright but I still would suffer with bad symptoms...

When the doctor retires

Hello friends Wow, I can't believe I have been so behind at posting here. Shame on me! hahaI went in to see my doctor today for my yearly physical. All is fine but she informed me today that she and her husband (also a doctor in the office) are planning to retire in the summer of 2009. I heard rumor of this from my grandmother who is also a patient of my doctor's husband. It was still a little shocking to hear the official word...

February check in

Hello everyone!Gosh, I'm so behind with my shareposts! I hope everyone has been well over these last few months. I have been doing fairly well all things considered. My pain levels are a tad higher simply because of the winter and all the cold & snow but I really cannot complain. I am in a pretty good place right now with my Fibromyalgia. Yes, I have pain but I am living life and enjoying myself.I started my back tattoo in January. I...
