Well I have been living with arthritus for over 20 years now and have learned how to live with the pains and the down time because of it. Also have had Chronic autoimmune hepatitus for over 13 years and learned how to deal with that. But this TMJ issue this is a pain I can not deal with. Not only does it tire me due to the pain but my diet suffers from it as I can not open my mouth wide enough to eat solid foods so I am resigned to liquids only. I have seen a doctor for it and at present he has me on pain meds and a bite guard for at night along with some therapy but non of this is helping. The hedaches are getting worse and so are my sleeping habits. What does it take to get a doctor to look to surgery for this condition. At what point do they feel it is needed. I wonder if it would be best to have my teeth removed as they to are showing signs of trouble for me now. So many questions but it sems there is no fast solution to this condition. I would love to know what the experts think.

I suffered from GN (Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia) for 6 years before I found a neurologist who would operate. In the meantime I took Tegretol to manage the pain, then they tried to wien me over to gabapentin. I had a nerve pressing on a blood vessel in my head and the pain was like 500,000 volts of electricity shooting thru my head. I was suicidal. You will find someone who will help you I'm sure,,,you just have to keep looking and put feelers out to your friends to help you. Good luck and keep the faith.
