Pain Pump Problem?

By Maggiemarie11 Friday, August 15, 2008

I have had a Synchromed pain pump for over a year and half.  One morning I woke up and felt all the pain back as before surgery.  I have stated to the doctor and nurses multiple times that I'm not getting any relief from the pump since last July.  They state that the meds in my pump are gone at the time of refill so it must be working. They just give me another increase which makes no difference.  Lately the pain at the top of my spinal fusion T9 is unbearable.  I am extremely nervous, loss of appetite, fatigued, unwell hurting all over and pain around the pump.  I question if there's a leak in the catheter or a granuloma?  Does anyone know what your symptoms are from a leak?       Maggie/IL

Hi

I just had my pain pump removed but I know there is a guy on this website that is very knowledgeable about these pumps. I couldnt get used to the meds so mine was removed and I am back on oral meds that I took prior to the pump. His name is Bob and there is a whole ton of comments on this website if you search for intrathecal morphine pumps in the search area. I know I have read them all and each person has a different experience with the pump. I would not give up though with your Drs telling them that something is wrong and if necessary go to another pain clinic for a second opinion. They are nothing to fool around with. Even call Medtronic, I am assuming that is the maker of your pump anyway and they will talk to you about what is going on. Please dont leave it go though cause something is wrong if you arent feeling any relief. Sometimes we have to be our own best help to get help. Anyway try talking to others on this site, there is alot of help here. Good Luck

Jody
