If a zebra in the safari injures his leg, he keeps moving as much as possible because he needs to survive. If a human injures his leg, he may stop moving because he is too scared to move. This fear of movement (kinesiophobia) is rooted in the belief that pain is harmful and threatening. For the same ...

Hi Christina,
interesting, thank you. I still find it hard to believe that 'fibromyalgia' exists and exists in me. I think it is just a word doctors use until they discover what is really wrong.
Anyway, I have this issue. My pain, I am fairly certain, is made much much worse by noise. Car noise in particular. I live near a busy road. It is hell every second. I am in such pain. I want to get dual paned windows and I rent here. Do I spend the money? Move? The stress of moving is very hard too.
I keep thinking that having this pain day after day is surely making me sicker and sicker, or just that how in the world will I ever find a day when I no longer live with pain and am healthy again?
Anyway, I went to the audiologist and they said I have hyperacusis. Going to get custom earplugs. What do you think about moving away from noise if it makes me ill? Spending money on windows when I rent here?
thank you
Marishka
Pain is such a complex experience that can only be made sense by exploring the brain. Ultimately, pain is the brain's response to threats. For some people just the thought of moving is enough to cause their pain to worsen simply because movement is interpreted as being threatening. For you, the loud sounds in your environment might be interpreted by the brain as a source of threat. That sensitivity to loud sounds absolutely can be triggering your brain to send painful messages out to the rest of your body.
Maybe a change in your environment would do you some good. Moving to a quieter, less threatening, less stressful environment might give your brain a chance to calm down.
Believe it or not, No matter what the diagnosis, a primary way to eliminate pain is to eliminate everything that your brain perceives as threatening. Threats can include poor health, a hot stove, a past memory, or even a loud sound. You already know what is bothering you and I think you know what to do about it.
The stress of moving is temporary, the stress of staying is forever. Just move.
Dr. Christina Lasich, MD
Hi Christina,
that is very interesting...I am going to read it again after I type this...your post...
thing is, I just moved three months ago to this place that is noisy. If I spend 2300, I can put in dual paned windows in all the rooms. If the landlord would split it with me, which he SHOULD, it would be 1100.
Since I still have something, they say, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, I am still very very tired after one little thing. I have to rest. Or the pain will come back in an instant.
I feel I would rather spend the money on the place here temporarily, even though I rent because the horrid stress of moving right now is unbearable....the landlord SHOULD pay at least half...
really, isn't there anything that says tennants should be comfortable and not living in agony, (uninhabitable conditions I think the laws speak of) but that is hard in this case maybe...
and stay here for the year before I move to a quieter home....I still have a contract for another 9 months too....one year lease...
I have had so much stress which is why I am sick. I just feel if I move right away, it wouldn't be until February anyway, because of the holidays...I have to spend money to hook everything up again, look, find a place, find a renter for here, move all stuff, I know the stress is unbearable for that right now...
it just seems better for me and my health to spend the money and get temporary relief for another 9 months here, and I HOPE the landlord helps, it is HIS place and would increase the value and comfort of HIS place....
but either way, I am in agony...and I think I want to put in the dual paned windows here, stay here for another 9 months, then move to a quieter home.
what do you think?

i have just been reading your posts, I too was diagnosed with fibromyalgia when i was 36. i suffered various symptoms, from sleeplessness to chronic pain for 10 yrs then i read something about ASPARTAME the artificial sweetner.
When i looked at my diet it appeared that i consumed high ammounts of Aspartame and the symptoms i suffered were all listed in Aspartame poisoning.
I checked the lables of every thing that i intended to consume and if this ingredient was in it i threw it away.
within 2 weeks i was 90% pain free and my sleep patterns were starting to improve.
In 2 years i went from considering buying a mobility scooter because walking was so painfull to being a fully qualified personal trainer, kettlebell instructor, bootcamp coach, primal flow specialist and kettlercise instructor delivering 5 classes a week
I am in no way infering that your pain or symptoms are caused by the consumption of Aspartame but after my experience i always suggest to people who are diagnosed with Aspartame, to check all their foods they are eating and to see if ommiting it from their diet can help to reduce their symptoms..
I hope you find this interesting and can google Aspartame and see for your self what test results have show.
wishing you health and pain free happiness
