I have foot pain only in one foot. The pain is isolated to the left foot, left side around the pad below the three smallest toes. The pain sometimes shoots through in that area like a hot poker. Is this was is referred to as hot feet?

The ball of my feet would be in extreme pain before I got off work each day.  I mainly stood in place most of my work shift.  A foot doctor tried, but couldn't help me.  I knew I was headed for foot surgery but there would be no way that I would allow that.  So I tried my own remedy and it worked.  First, I would walk in place.  My co-workers all thought I had to go to the bathroom until they asked why I was walking in place.  Secondly, I would massage my feet by rubbing the top of my toes firmly, at the same time curling my toes in (as I rub them).  I did that every morning before putting on my shoes.  No more pain, unless I try to wear heels.  The pain isn't totally gone, but I'm painless as long as I don't wear heels.

Thanks for sharing your remedy. I just discovered a great e-store for comfort shoes,

www.footsmart.com. The right shoe can make a world of difference for sore feet. Women especially have difficulty finding cute, comfortable shoes. Avoid the high-heels, the barefeet, and the flip-flops, your feet (and body) are worth flat, well cushioned, and supportive shoes.

Thank you for your advice and e-mail to buying comfort shoes.  I actually bought a pair from that particular store right after I gave my comment.
