About Me

Used to be very athletic. Now have trouble walking without a cane. Getting "hosed" by the health insurance industry as I am considered "uninsurable" and have a hoice of (1) HIPPA-mandated private health care policy which costs me $4500.00 a MONTH and still doesn't cover my prescriptions (avg $1100/mo)or much else. Was recently (FINALLY) approved for Social Security Disability and started getting monthly checks from Uncle Sam, but have to wait until APRIL 2009 to start on MEDICARE because of the laws Congress enacted. I work with a Pain Management Specialist every month and we have a basic handle on my pain levels (avg 6 out of 10) so I can function somewhat like a human being on most days. I focus on volunteer work as much as possible to give back as well as to help others in worse situations than myself to occupy my time. I keep searching for answers because this is NOT a good way to have to live. In the meantime, I surround myself with friends and family and work with others.
