My sister in law has polymyalgia and is taking a steriod( I think its prednisone) type drug for the pain and its has her gaining weight real bad. Is there anything else out there that would work for her? The doctor wants her to now lower her dose from 10 to 8 mgs and she is miserable doing that, but im just wondering if there isnt something else out there all together diferent that would help her pain without the weightgain which has her very depressed. Please let me know if you know of someone with this deseise that has found something that works.

My goodness I too suffer like your sister and there are medications out there. First if you can find a local pain management dr. please do.
Your sister can take morphine, fentynal patches, diladiud, lidocaine infusion.
A pain management dr has access to prescribe more meds than an internist or a arithitis dr. Meds like vicodan can cause constipation so i personally stay away from meds like that.
If any meds make her have nausea she can take phenergran, reglan etc.
