A ghostly image of a soldier

stood in the background,

as a mother with a babe in her

arms stood by a grave site.

She lowly whispered, "Father

this is your son. Son this is your

Father, he gave his life so that

others might live."

This is a mental pain that many people suffer due to the terror that is war.

As a woman and a veteran I realize that women die and leave behind families. I wrote this poem before women were allowed into battle.

Thank you for your kind comments.

I just hope that this in some small way comforts any one who has lost a loved one to war.

Welcome sister.  I am a female USMC Veteran and I lost my only brother in Vietnam.  Today my son is getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan.

Thank you for the art and poem.  From my experience sister, we survived our own war and at times the enemy we learned to fear wore the same uniform we did.

Thank you. I have said a prayer for your son asking God to protect him.

God bless you and your son.

I too have added your son to my prayer booklet so I will remember to include him daily.
