Hi Dr. Lasich, you mention cannabinoids for it's anti-inflammatory effects, so I was wondering if Hemp protein would have the same pain-relieving qualities? I'm looking for any food product that would help with chronic pain. We do eat avacado, and other green-non green veggies every day (5 servings or more), so I hope I'm on the right track with these, but would like to know more about Hemp protein, even though it isn't real inexpensive. Also, I recently added curcumin, but haven't noticed any benefit yet, but hope too eventually. My fruits are in my morning smoothie and I was thinking of adding the Hemp protein. Haven't ever tried seaweed, what does it taste like? I attempted eating Natto, but couldn't get it down, so I take a K complex instead (K1 and K2).
Thanks for a great article!
Pam,
Thank you for your comments. Actually, I mentioned the cannabinoids as an example of Phenolic Compounds found in nature. I have not seen any research to say whether or not the cannabinoids have any anti-inflammatory properties at all. Wine also has phenolic compounds but not neccessarily anti-inflammatory powers.
The phenolic compounds in seaweed however do seem to have anti-inflammatory powers.
I have had seaweed hidden in many types of food items like bread and frankly you would hardly know it was there when properly prepared. Be daring and try it sometime. Here's to culinary adventures and your health.
