My Dr. of 7 yrs took ill and may not return to his practice. I was given 6 weeks of my pain meds and sent out to find a new Dr.. I have DDD w/shoulder pain and spurring. I have been on oxycodone 30mg 3 pill 4x a day and 2 60 my oxycontin. I have called several pain management Drs and none prescribe medication or do medication management. I am so scared if i cant find a Dr soon I may face withdrawls from my medication. If anyone knows a reputable Dr in Connecticut PLEASE let me know - Any info would be appreciated.

I was in a very similar situation as you are...It took over a year to find a DR. who cared enough to take me on as a patient and prescribe pain meds.It is very sad the world has come to this, for there are so many very ill people. actually dying, and are not given the oppurtunity to have pain medication to live their lives out with quality!
Anyway, the DR I go to is God sent! I have met a couple of people who travel quite a distance to see him, and I understand why!The stigma attached to narcotics is horrible, and unfair. If it is very important to you and your life it may be worth your while to travel from Connecticut to NJ...
Of course you must have records and proof of the problems you have. You wont get any medication unless this doctor knows for sure you really do have pain issues. He is careful who he treats, but once he knows you are sincerely in need of pain being addressed he will stick his neck out for you.
I had been in pain management for 4 years, on pretty much what you were on...I was sent out the door with a couple scripts to wean me off in less then 3 weeks. It was a nightmare, to say the least.I am fortunate to still be alive and very happy to still be here! I literally went through thousands of calls, to any kind of Dr. who could possibly continue my treatment.I went a year and a half of no life and mainly in bed, until finally I am being helped.
