I miss sleep

I've been having alot more pain in my lower back when i sleep for my so called 2 to 3 hrs after getting up im in so much pain i feel sick in my stomach and trying to get up to get a pain pill sems almost impossible. i asked my doctor what he thinks it may be he said change of weather will cause more pain. i'm in Delaware it got quite cold last week and my home town Pittsburgh Pa and New York received a whopping 6 inches of snow or better.

I love the snow especially the first snow its so romantic, but with it comes much more pain. I'm takeing roxicodone 30mg 6 times a day which my doctor is aware of, he gives me plenty of pills to get through to my next visit i even have 20 left from the last script so i know im not over doing it on the pills,the pain eases for a about 5 hours and the crazy cycle starts all over again. If you read my profile you'll see ive copied my m.r.i report on there,i have to get another one soon since i feel last week my right leg just gave out and down i went 5 steps, so i just hope i didnt cause anymore damage.

ok anyway, i just wanted to know if there is anyone out there who can relate to me?

Hello Rob

Just wanted to stop by and let you know that this fall/winter weather nearly kills me. Every fall/winter I suffer greatly with eachpassing storm or change in weather. Even when the weather changes back to sunshine, I still have trouble, just because the pressure changed.

It really makes me crazy and interferes with what little activties I'm able to do during the more stable summer months.

I can tell a day to several hours in advance when we have a storm coming in or if we have even the slightest change in pressure. My husband has a home weather station and it has an alarm that goes off when the pressure changes significantly and I can tell my husband when the alarm is going to go off, before it does.

I personaly dread the fall & winter like the plague. I wish so badly that we could move to a more stable climate, but we love the PNW and have lived here all our lives, so it's really hard to convince my husband that it would really be best for my health to move to AZ, HI, or someplace with nicer temps. He's also a weather fancier and it would really be boring for him if we moved to a place like these.

Thanks for sharing. I'm really sorry about your additional pain & suffering, but your definately not alone in this problem.

Its always nice to hear from someone who can relate to me, i dont want others to suffer pain ,but to know and talk to someone who more or less experiences what im going through, its so hard to explain to someone who has either no pain or someone who is healthy. I'm 40yrs old and some may say oh my your still young all i can do is say "tell my body that" when you have a couple of doctors who give you the same answer when they look at your m.r.i's it scares the hell out of ya, all i keep hearing is "when i look at your m.r.i's its like im looking at the back and spine of a 90yr old man "

I keep thinking to my self my GOD it wasnt that long ago where i was able to run and just act plain crazy, now im scared. I can relate when you say you know or can tell when the snow or rain is comming or when its going to get hot or cold before others do. for me i start out with flu like symptoms then the worst pain you can think of in my joints and lower back i have arthritis in my fingers and spine and my body feels like one huge out door antenna "you know what i mean dont you " ? and as far as moving to a warm climate i lived in clearwater florida for 2 yrs and i hated it. im not saying you would, but for me, in the summer it got so hot that when at even 7:00am its already 80 degrees out i said its time to pack up and go home back up north, i love the fall colors and even the snow believe it or not :) I'm temporary staying in wilmington delaware for now until spring then i'll move back to pittsburgh,pa. its my home town.

well look at me if i dont end this e-mail soon its going to become a book sorry about that. i wish you well and will keep you in my prayers. be safe and know that you have a friend in delaware who will pray for your safty and good health.

Hello my new friend from Delaware Rob.

It was nice to hear back from you and I do know exactly what your talking about. I never thought of the antena relation, but understand what your talking about. I'm so sensitive to everything nowadays, this crazy Fibro is just a nuts illness and with Chronic Spinal pain on top of the fm, I'm hurting 24x7 and over every little change in weather, temps, pressure, wind, ........... on & on..........................................

I also wanted to let you know if your interested, we have a support group over in the forum of this site. Your welcome to come over and check it out by reading up on the posts. We begin a new discussion every month, so of course we just started November today, but you can read octobers and check out the conversations to see if you would be interested. Hello, Rob,

I can relate. I just switched back onto the Fentanyl patch, after virtually living on Oxycodone for several years. The only way I could get out of bed in the morning was to keep pills by the bed and set my alarm to 4 AM, when I would wake up (if I was asleep) and pop one, and a muscle relaxer. That would seem to pretty much knock me out for about 3 hours. By the time I woke up, most mornings I could at least get up to use the bathroom, grab a glass of water and feed my cat, then crash again until about 9 AM.

By then it was time for another pill, but the levels were rising to the point, by then, that I could get up and do a few things around the house. I dreaded going to work, until I finally had to stop to have my meds paid for. Working 40 hours a week still wouldn't cover the costs of all my medications and leave anytnhing left over for rent, utilities, etc. I also have HIV, and have had for almost 20 years.

When the colder wather sets in, I really suffer (as if I wasn't already) and many nights I went to bed praying to God that He take me to Heaven that night, rather than face another day.

The patches deliver a constant dose, which mostly eliminated the morning fall-off, until they, too, began to let me down. I am alone with no assistance, so there is never anyone to help me with anything, so what gets done around the house must be done by me, or it doesn't get done. And people, doctors included, wonder why I live in a depressed state.

I miss the quick action of the pills, especially since I found if I bit one in half and chewed it up, the medicine seemed to enter my blood stream faster and do some good. Of course, I was always nearly out of my pills and getting more was enough of a trial that I gave up, and turned to the patches.

My life, as I knew and loved it, is gone. There are very few things I can do anymore, and I spend too muc time in bed sleeping (the only place where I feel no concious pain (while I sleep). The pain even gets into my dreams now, and turns them into nightmares, like my life.

While I pray often for relief, God is withholiding any assistance, and since I soon ust return to work, or lose everything, and live on the street, it's a fairly un tenable situation. It is epecially sad because I'm not used to be alone and want a redaltionship more thjan anythin in the world, but no one gets very far along with me, before thehy balk at my suffering, and leave me, once more.

Oh, I can relate.

Right now the pain's moving across my arms and up my neck as I write this and I know that soon I will be, once more, immobilized. My life and everything and everyone in it, has left, and I become an invalid at 54 years old.

I'm deathly frightened, not of dying, but of living much longer.

I hope you can find the method that works for you. I'm just waiting to die, and I hope it is soon.

Hi Dean Allen,

I saw your response to Rob's email and felt compelled to write to you. I'm so sorry to hear how much pain you are in. I too am in a lot of pain. I don't have the same thing as you or Rob but I do have an embedded blood clot in my leg leg that gives me pain 24/7. All the veins and valves in my leg are damaged so the blood will flow down my leg but it takes forever to get back to my heart. This leaves my leg very swollen and in a lot of pain. I do take pain meds and I have to wear compression stockings. I also have crohn's disease which feels like the flu with the aches and pains and not knowing if I'll even be able to drink water without getting sick. Being in pain is no fun. Oh and I'm only 30 years old so that makes it hard too. My doctors keep telling me each year things will get worse but I've finally come to terms with that and am okay with it. Don't get me wrong I have my good days and my bad days but no matter which one it is I am still in pain. I know one day I will be pain free (when Jesus comes back) and that's how I get through each day. It took me a long time to get to this point. I would go to doctors all the time hoping they could "fix" me and everyone of them said they couldn't help. I would get discouraged and sometimes feel depressed. One day I made up my mind if the next doctor said they couldn't help than I needed to forget about getting better and just learn how to live and cope with all this pain. Each day is a stepping stone and some days I take a few steps forward while others I take 2 steps back. I guess that happens to all of us. When I was reading your information I saw you pay out of pocket for your medicines and you still work. Have you tried to apply for disability. All you have to do is prove you can't work 40 hours a week and you'll be approved. Granted it takes several turn downs before you get approved but it's worth it in the long run. Also if you have never applied you will get back pay from the time this all happened to you so I'm sure that money would help you. If you do apply whatever you do "DON'T GIVE UP". That's what they want you to do. I made that mistake and lost almost 2 years of pay. You may even have to get a lawyer but there are so many out there that don't get paid unless they win your case. Even when they win it they get paid out of your back pay and never from the future money you will be getting. There is a cap at how much they can get too. Also once you start collecting disability after a certain time you are eligible to get medicare which will give you health coverage and you can pay a little extra a month and get your medicines covered so in the long run I'm sure it's cheaper than paying out of pocket. You may already know all this but just in case I wanted to share. I hope you will start feeling better soon even if it's not physically I hope so mentally and financially.

I live in a warm climate which does absolutely NOTHING

for the pain. The weather changes here are constant.

I've read in many places where a change in barometric

pressure causes a change in the pressure of our joints,

so it just makes sense that we hurt more when precipitation

is on it's way.

We had to evacuate for Hurricane Ike, but the weather

change followed us 250 miles north. Ike was painful

not only emotionally but physically.

I find I get more relief when I combine traditional medicine with alternative medicine. NAET treatments through accupuncture has improved my life drastically. Massage therapy has also helped.

Hi Rob I have the same pain as you do but when i lay down for awhile both my arms will go numb from the elbow down and my right hand hurts so bad that i cry it hurts even to type on the computer or to even pick stuff up and to walk is a nightmare i hurt so bad and my family thinks its silly cause were i say i hurt so bad and my pain meds dont help that long i am taking lyrica twice a day at 200 mg its helps for awhile then its right back to hurting and if i move the wrong way my back feels like it is gonna just rip apart and i get so sick that i almost passout at times,and i know what your going through about falling i have to watch what i do cause both my legs are to were now they just throw me down at anytime,i get mad cause i can't do things that i want to like normal people.

HELLO MY NAME IS SOFFY. LET ME TELL YOU THAT I HAVE FM FOR 7 YEARS NOW, IS VERY DIFFC. TO DEAL WITH IT. I LIVE IN SPRINGFIELD, MA AND IS VERY COLD RIGHT NOW AND HOPING THAT WE DON'T GET SNOW UNTIL DEC, AT LEAST BECAUSE THE WEATHER CHANGES IS MAKING ME FEELING WORSET. THE BACK PAIN IS ALSO TERRIBLE TOO I HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH MY SPINAL BECASUE OF MANY TIMES FALLS ALSO I HAVE OSTEOPOROSIS I AM ONLY 48 AND MY LIFE IS A BOOK ALREADY. WELL SOME OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS SUPPORT ME 100% I MEAN MY HUSBAND, AND DAUGHTERS SO THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME. EVEN THAT MY MEDS FOR PAIN ONLY HELPS ME FOR AROUND 4 HOURS ONLY DEPENDS ON THE WEATHER OUTSIDE LIKE I MENTIONED IT BEFORE, BUT IS NOTHING THAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT THE PILLS JUST EASE THE PAIN BUT DON'T CURE THE ILLNESS. Have you tried lidocaine patches for your lower back? Have you had steroid injections? Do you go to a pain clinic? I feel for you and will pray for you. I take hydrocodone 50/500 3 to 4 times daily. I also take a vitamin called Mellow Mood that is a B vitamin complex you get at the health food store. It helps repair your nerve sheaths. I also take an antidipressant. These are all carefully coordinated through my pain clinic. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis in my spine and elsewhere and nerve damage in my back and right leg. I am still working because I have to. Please also see a counselor or therapist because your state of mind DOES affect your pain. I have also tried Lyrica and this might help you. I gained 17 pounds in two weeks so I stopped taking it. It has helped other people in my family. There are three of us that have fibromyalgia. We are cousins and we know it is genetically inherited in some people. Let me know how you're doing. Delanolady

I just got on the internet to see if there was any one else out there like me. Sounds like im not alone. I live in oregon the weather isnt all that worm but we dont have snow. I have lower back pain as well. I was injurd about 5 years ago had surgery and my life has never bene the same sence. I habe delt with a acky back sence and took ib prophin severel times a day. A bout 6 weeks ago i woke up in the most horific pain ive ever felt in my life. worse than the first time. It took me at least 45 min to get to the bathroom to pee with help form my boyfriend who is with the fire dep and goes on plenty of med calls all the time. He him self has never seen anyone in that much pain on any of his calls ever. I couldnt even sit on the potty. I finally made it to my knees that was the only possition that i could tolerate. I just had to pee on a towel. Darin was going to call 911 but i wouldnt let him. A few days later i finally went to urgent care and have bene takin oxycodone ever sence. 2 every 3 to 4 hourse. I also have not had a single nithts sleep sence. In the morning it is also hard to get up and take that pill. Your not alone. My doctor thought it might be a flair up and gave it 6wks. I had my mri a few days ago and i see my doc monday becouse he had a cansulation. My doc doesnt give me more than 5 days of pills so i allways seem to run out on a friday. I have in the past had to wait tell monday to call in. I was in so much pain i was in bed for 3 days and only got up to pee. No shower nothing. When i got my refill it took a couple of days to take affect. I would wake up at night take some and cry my self to sleep on darins arm. My doctor was out this week and i had to call to get anough to make it through this weekend and the nurse practitioner that was filling in for my nurse made me feel like a drug addict she told me i was taking to much. I could go one about the whole conversation but id be hear all day. I told her i was taking it as purskribed by my doctor and she sail it was only for sever pain and darin told her apearenly you dont know what sever pain is. anyway my doctor will hear about it monday. Im going to wright a letter. I wish you luck my dear your not alone and dont ever let anybody tell you what your feeling because as far as im concerned anless they have bene there ware we are they have no room to talk.
