I recently had a revision lumbar fusion surgery done 5 years after the previous surgery (L4-S1). 2 weeks post op and I developed hives, at first the Dr. thought it was valium which I was prescribed for my front incision pain and it was the only new medication I was taking. 1 week later I ended up in the ER for anaphylaxis and required an epinephrine shot. Since then every opiate based pain med except the fentanyl patch (Oxycodone, Hydromorphone, Hydrocodone,) has caused a reaction of hives after about 6 hours.
Does anyone have information on a similar case? Could it be the new hardware they used in my back?
