Finding Pain Clinics

I feel for you and can relate to your problem. I am on Medicaid and suffer with Fibromyalgia, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, and chronic back pain. I was having a hard time finding a pain management clinic in Indiana that would take my insurance. My doctor's office did find a few that took Medicaid. One clinic would only take two Medicaid patients a month, there was no list, you simply had to be one of the first two callers at the beginning of a month. Isn't that about the stupidest thing you ever heard of? Another didn't take Medicaid patients outside of its county. Anyway, what I did was I got online (www.Webmd.com) and did a search for pain management doctors in my area. Then I called every one of them asking if they took Medicaid. I finally found one about 60 miles away although I am not happy with him, all he has done is prescribe narcotics so far, when I told him that I had received trigger point injections and spinal blocks that did help when I lived in Colorado.

When I get my Medicare in a few months, I'm going to go to the Cleveland Mayo Clinic. Be careful of those pain specialists that only want to prescribe you narcotics and make you sign a contract. There is a possibility of addiction and its your fault if you do get addicted not the pain clinic. Read the contract carefully. Anyway, I hope this gives you some useful information. Another thing you might try is to find a specialist that treats your condition. Often they will prescribe pain meds.

maybe the first place to start is the state or public aid insurance.  call them. ask to speak with someone whom can help you.

in most states if the hospital or doc office adcepts medicare they have to adcept medicaide.  its a federal law.

your next option may be go to a teaching hospital pain clinic.  i know chicago has medical schools.  find out which hospital is associated with the medical schools, and then see if those hospitals have a pain clinic.  hospitals have to adcpet any insurance you have. 

see it this helps.  the state insurance usually has a rep that helps patinets use there insurance or knows whom adcepts it.

I don't know the answer on how to find places for coverage, but I suffer from fibro, and many others.  I have been taking a product called Max GXL and it has reduced my pain by 50 percent or more if you want check out my site it did so much for me I just had to join and spread the word.
