Living Life With Pain

By dan Sunday, March 07, 2010

We must learn to live our life with pain and sometimes we forget our limits, and we have people around us that don't understand,  and thay don't know, but it would be nice to know other people that are going through it as i am,maybe we can help each other.

Dan,

You are so right..... Sometimes I feel that the only people that can understand what I am going through are the members of the 4 different chronic pain support groups that I belon to in the internet, I have tried to find a group in my area that meets face to face, and they do not exists! Maybe I should try to become the founder of the first South Florda chronic pain group, that could be great!

But in all seriousness, all of us that are suffering from all of these different conditions that keep us in chronic and/or intractable pain should be able to reach out to others that like us that are going through such a hardtime, and such a lonely time..... I don't know where I would've been if it wasn't for all of the friends that I've met in Cyber space. They have become more than my friends, they have beome family, and we should all be able to help and support each other, life is too short not to lend a helping hand. Take care,

Millie

I so agree with both of you!  You have put into words my exact feelings!  I know I've tried to explain my situation to others and they try to understand but I honestly don't think anyone can "get it" unless they've lived in my painful body for a day.  I often wish my doctors could borrow my body for a day and try to function!!  That thought always brings a smile....you have to laugh or you'll cry!  Thanks for sharing - it's always nice to know I'm not alone.  In pain in Kansas City

I agree with you.  I found this quote on a website and I printed it out and it hangs on my bulletin board at work so I can look at it every day . . .

A Creed for Those In Pain

I.  Everyone has the right to be suppored in the pursuit of their own recovery

II.  No one is naturally wired-up to handle significant, ongoing bodily pain alone

III.  Finding the experience of pain to be challenging, difficult, and, at times the source of great anguish, does not mean that ther is a single thing wrong with your.  Ay capable, competent, & well adjusted person, when confronted with sifnificant, ongoing pain, will, from time to time, feel like a deer staring at headlights.

I think this sums it up in a nutshell.  And I agree, unless you have lived a day in the pain that we go through, you have no clue as to how we feel.  I get so tired of hearing, "well you look good today you must be feeling better."  No, I'm not feeling better, it's called makeup.....and smiling through it.
