Need pain medicine doc in Alabama that takes Medicaid

By MsBackPainInAlabama Thursday, May 22, 2008

My pain doctor in Birmingham Alabama is moving out of state. I need a new doctor to manage my medicines (Duragesic 100 patches & Percocet  for breakthrough.) I have been on these for years and don't want to go off of them. They make the pain bearable.  Without the medication my pain is so great that I cannot function.  The problem is that I only have Medicaid insurance.  I cannot find a doctor that takes Medicaid and does medication management. All the doctors I have called only do epidurals/blocks and do not prescribe medication. Please!  I only have a few patches left. I need a Medicaid doctor in Birmingham Alabama area NOW!  Please help me!  I am on SSI and am very poor.  I cannot afford to pay cash for a doctor.  Please Help me find a doctor!  I have had 3 lumbar surgeries and one neck surgery and I have fibromyalgia.

Try finding a hospital with a clinic. If they don't cover everything alot of hospital clinics have charity care you can apply for. That is the way it is in New Jersey.Get your phone book out and start calling hospitals and describe your situation and ask bout clinics. Also make sure you get something in writing from your doctor that he is retiring plus all your medical records and bring them with you.Don't wait!
