MY FAMILY SLEEPS
In my dreams
Gargoyles with drooling teeth
and blood-tipped claws
grip me by my joints,
tugging, pulling, tearing,
wanting me.
My family sleeps
In my dreams
I lay my swollen head back
and close my throbbing eyes
and paralyzed,
I scream.
My family sleeps.
In my dreams
A silent scream is heard by none
and I awake.
I imagine the dampness around me
is blood instead of sweat, and,
My family sleeps.
I my dreams
the Gargoyles await me.
In the night
there is no escaping the pain.
My eyes watch shadows on the ceiling, and
My family sleeps.
