Your words

oh sweet words

that tumble and lilt

sliding off

your tender sweet lips

like snowfall

and autumn leaves

falling and falling

words besprent

off trees

onto my petrified stillness

words

like waterfalls of diamonds

luminous and scintillating

like summer's midnight

meteorites.

Oh

your lips and language

words so sweet

like the petals dew

your gentle sounds

effortlessly formulated

with elegance

effortless

like solitary breath

unencumbered

how could you

speak like that

my eyes submerged

in your pools of light

one.

My rest came not

of deep enduring sleep

but from your gift

of sweet awakening

from this primordial slumber

how could I possibly see

your utterance

did your lips really move

the words evanesce like

lofty breeze.

quiet

I was frozen like glass

timeless in the gaze

of that promise

of sweet eternity

contained in that moment

forgetting was everything

forever

in beauty undisturbed

annealed in hope

and enraptured

I was dazed

yet could I speak

I have been hushed

silenced

since the days of the druids.

Embracing your eyes

they softly spoke

conveying

something I once knew

in the hollows of

that stellar eon

long ago and empty

the quiet

a plangent leaden loneliness.

Your breath

with hints of promise

innocent delight

sustenance of succor

these touchstones

on your altar of beauty

reverent and humble am I

like the smoldering pillars

of hope

hope imbued

your sweet glowing words

whisper

let words evanesce

let the smoke carrying them

behind Michelangelo's clouds

immolate my soul

and envelope my tremor

on this gentle nightfall.

Again speak

and beg the dawn

with merciful eyes

bring your gaze

down the hazy hallway

past the sleeping doorways

and into the luminous street

bursting forth

the exultant trumpeters

cancel this tenuous moment

invite the rapture

of dawns new light

whisper

wake the town

with your sweet indulgence

lift the laced veil

your illimitable beauty

will invoke the summer parade

sing

and beat the drum

onward the precentor leads

speak your emancipatory couplets

to this crowd

but whisper to me

abort this pause

so I may hear

your demulcent gift

consecrate and sprinkle

your diaphanous holy water

give us your unction

and cancel

my tarnished soliloquy.

gently entwine

your words of promise

around my gaze

like little flowers

on that thorny vine

I grasped for

in limbo's tundra

as I fell

tumbling and blinded

off the wintry

foreboding precipice

so dark

the blindness

taciturn

like stone

stumbling

humanity's stone

tumbling

take the stone

nudge

and triturate it

breaking it into the light

carry it to the towering

sun drenched window

with your lithe hands

melding rock

like a mortar and pestle

of salvation.

give us words

bestow your benediction

truth whispered

like birds

that take wing

in sojourn to the

vigilant lighthouse of hope

soft words

the blossom of your tongue

the whole of the earth

listens

hears

and hopes.

Gather the sintered

broken lighthouse mortar

amongst sea tumbled stone

Take stone

turn it to gem

carry it and

lay it on the pilgrim's

somber breast

let the crystal shimmer

in prismatic rivulets

like torrents of

archean comets
