Tmj replacement update

Hi everyone. Its been a long time since i last posted, but until now nothing had changed. Ive just been given the go ahead by my bupa. They are going to cover me for everything. The hospital i will be having treatment isnt a bupa hospital so it was touch and go whether they would cover me or not, but they have said yes and im so relieved. Apparently the new joint will cost 10k so im really glad they said yes lol. Im hoping to find out tomorrow a...

OMG! OMG!

Well i was supposed to see my specialist next month for a follow up to my operation in april, but ive been in a bit of pain lately so i decided to go see him early. My appointment was wednesday (18th). I woke up with a strange pain at the back of the joint every time i moved my mouth or swallowed or liked my lips or even spoke. I thought id probably just slept on it funny. Anyway i went to see the spesh. As soon as i went in, i think he knew...

Long time

Hi everyone. Well its been a while since i was last here. Just a small update on my op. So far the only difference has been a new pain and lots more cracking noises. It hasnt benefitted me in any way whatsoever. Ive also now discovered a piece of tooth which is poking through my gum on the left where one of the teeth was removed. Oh and my face is now numb infront of my ear...weird feeling. So not sure if i should call my spesh about the...

Surgery over!

Well i had my surgery on monday. I think i was down for around and a half. I was in a lot of pain when i came round so the put me on the little morphine button. My specialsist visited me later in the afternoon and said everything went well. There was no need to remove any scar tissue which meant he didnt have to open the joint up he just froze the nerves and whipped out two teeth (which has been the most painfull so far). My face has swole up...

Pre op over.

Ok so today i went for my pre op appointment. Id worked all night and had to be there for 10am, i was shattered. I was there for around an hour and 40 mins. To be honest it was a bit of a waste of time. A guy asked me about my surgery history even though he had all my medical records with him which he kept looking at to check what i was saying. He then examined my jaw which was very painful and i told him so, but he carried on any way. I then...

Well its been a while since i was "pencilled in" the appointment book for my operation and just when i was begining to think it wasnt going to happen on the 23rd of this month my mom called me today to tell me i had a letter from the hospital comfirming the 23rd and i have a sort of pre op appointment for this tuesday at 10am which is a bummer as im working nights at the moment so i will have to go straight from doing a 12 hour shift, but at...

Update to my gripe.

Well not a lot has happened since my last post apart from a lot of pain and now one of the teeth my spesh is taking out during my op has fallen to bits. I was at my wits end last week so Thursday i decided to call the hospital again. I explained the problem with my tooth and told her my jaw was getting worse. I think they may have forgotten about me. My spesh is on leave again till the 17th of next month, but the one piece of good news is that i...

Frustration.

Well i guess i just need a little rant. For those of you who know me you'll know i had surgery before christmas to remove scar tissue from my left jaw which was causing me a LOT of pain and it didn't work. So now i have been waiting since January for a date to have open surgery to remove the scar tissue, have the nerves frozen and also have two teeth removed. Well i called the hospital i guess about 3 weeks ago now just to check they...
