About Me

I am 58 years old and have been treated for depression and anxiety for the last 16 years. I was just diagnosed with FM this summer while in the hospital for something else. I have retired from my job as an editor/writer and am in the process of writing a book. I have also been treated for alcohol abuse - but have not used for 4 months. I am married with 2 grown sons and 2 grown stepsons. My oldest biological son and my 4-year-old granddaughter live in Colorado. I don't see them as much as I would like. Although I was prescribed Lyrica while hospitalized, my doctor took me off and instead prescribed Neurontin which doesn't work as well. My main problems due to FM are fibrofog, extreme aching in my legs, and fatigue (which leads to lack of motivation). I have had two head-on collisions (both not my fault - but tell the insurance company that) 0ne at 21 and the other a few years ago. I think the hardest part of my recovery has been the fact that friends and family don't understand that if I LOOK so well, why is there a problem? At any rate, I'm pleased to have found this site and look forward to "talking" with all of you.
