I've not used marinol.
My doc had my on several others and most of the time it's bearable. It never really goes away but, at least I can function most of the time.
Is your pain in your back??

Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 10:25 PMMultifocal. I have severe neuropathy from diabetes, three disintegrated disks in back, cause pinched nerves to left leg. Add to that a totally destroyed left knee (military), shredding silastic bone in wrist and a post-rattlesnake bite on opposite hand. Lastly, chronic lung inflammatiion and an inflammatory disease of the intestines, which though these are not as constant, are still always present in some degree.
Other than this, I feel great!

Sunday, December 30, 2007 at 12:44 AMHello Al
It's good to meet you and welcome to the CPConnection.
We have a member here that I'm certain would love to tell you all about his own very positive experience with Marinol. His name is Mark and if you want to talk to him, you can meet us in the forum area of this site at the daily grind and Mark will probably checking in there first thing in the morning. Or you can ask your question tonight and talk to him in the morning.
To post in that area, you just have to fill out a new regitration and give your user, password info. Most of use use the same user name over there that we use in this section too. That way we can recognize one another easier. http://forums.healthcentral.com/discussion/chronic-pain/forums?a=tpc&f=1361017&m=25310781&r=16610891#16610891 This link is to the Daily Grind and your welcome to post your quesion to Mark there or you can probably find him by doing a seach through the Sharepost for Marinol.
I know he just did a share post in the past few weeks on Marinol and hes really done some reasearch into it too.
I hope you get rested from the busy holidays, I seem to think most of us are struggling along the past serveral days in hopes of recovering to our normal painlevel ridden selves. LOL I think?
Nice to meet you Al I hope to see you around more.
Betty

Monday, December 31, 2007 at 08:55 AMHi Al,
I been on Workers Comp for the past 10 years with chronic pain. Over the past month, I was able to switch from Oramorph SR (a slow release morphine tablet) to Marinol. The drug is pure THC has been a Godsend for me ... I'm off of Morphine and the anti-depressants (Wellbutrin and Effexor) which I was RXed to counteract the depressive effects of Marinol.
As far for Marinol, it was originally designed for Chemo patients to stimulate their appetites. However, the FDA reclassified Marinol to a Schedule III drug which permits doctors to Rx it for so-called "off-label" use(s), which includes treating Chronic Pain.
It works great for me ... I have several herniated discs (L2 through L5), Osteoporosis in my neck, and I been a migrainer for most of my 54 years. All that I pay is a $25 copay (for a month's supply) but many people without health insurance cannot afford the drug because it would cost them at least $600 per month ... If you have the health insurance or the means to buy it, I would tell your doctor that you would like to try it. Please let me know if you have any questions. Here's my email w/o the "at" sign, since the "at" sign is blocked. My email name is "hurtseachday2" and the domain is "aol."

What a Holiday

Three of the kids and 3 grandkids kept me up and around more than usual. Miserable nights, and only so much to do. Opiates help the pain BUT keep me awake. It gets old fast. One of the grown kids asked if I had tried any medically prescribed THC. Anyone had results with ...

Hi Al,
I've not used it myself but, you might try searching for Marinol or Sativex.
I'm not sure of the availability, I know
it is in the UK and Canada.
But, good Ole Uncle Sam looks at things different when it comes to that stuff.
