Safe Sharing

By Skye Wednesday, October 20, 2010

I feel as if this Health Central Support has become a place where some people come to blog their opinions about chronic pain and narcotics and and types of treatments that they feel are appropriate for other people. In some of these posts, it is very clear that they have never experienced chronic pain and are passing disapproval and negative judgements on patients who do.

I know that I already feel guity enough for not being able to live up to my own ethics about working, taking disability payments, letting my family and myself down, time after time, because a flair or chronic pain has kept me from participating in activities that I love.

I come to this place for "SUPPORT" and even constructive criticisim from others who have personal knowledge of pain.

I am not certain if I will continue to post here as I am not feeling "safe" when I most need a sense of support or comfort.  There are many people here who are kind and gentle and want to help one another. It will be a difficult decision to make.

Hi Skye,

I'm sorry to hear you've had some negative experiences here.  We do try very hard to make this a place where people with chronic pain feel comfortable and safe.  I know occasionally someone shows up with an agenda, but I think most of the people here are very kind, supportive and encouraging of one another.

I hope you'll stick with us for a little longer.  Please feel free to send me a private message anytime you feel someone has been offensive or rude.  If you could give me a link to the post you have a problem with, it would be very helpful.  I'll do whatever I can do deal with the problem.  We don't want to lose you as a community member.  – Karen
