Oxycodone IR is Oxycontin Immediate Release. But one thing that you need to remember is that when you are in chronic pain, you are not taking your medications to get high, you are taking them to be able to function.

Another thing...... there is a HUGE difference in between addiction and dependency. An addict will steal, borrow and do whatever is necessary, including Doctor shopping to obtain whatever medication they need to get high. They do NOT take them as directed, all they want is to be stoned.

A person in chronic and/or intractable pain, takes the medications to survive, to be able to live some kind of "normal" life. We take our medications as directed. We don't buy them on the streets or steal them from family members. We always go to the same Doctor to get our prescription and we use the same pharmacy, just to make sure that the Pharmacist will catch any drug interaction that maybe the Doctor missed with some other medication that we might be taking. I have been taking Methadone and Dilaudid for over 2 years now for my intractable pain, and I know that I am not addicted to them........ I just need them to be able to get out of bed, and have some kind of "semi-normal" life.

So I do not think that you need to be worrying about addiction.......
