Meds changed

By dtruder Saturday, August 01, 2009

My recent pain med was Percocet, one every 6 hours (3 per day). Was not working as good as I would hope. I asked the doc (primary care), if he would change to 4 or 5 per day. He said that when scripts are wrote for 100 or more red flags pop up and bells start ringing. I guess he starts getting looked at for giving out pain meds un-warranted. So he gave me Oxycontin 20mg ER. Two per day. It didn't work as well as the Percocet, I'm only guessing because of the lack of acidamedaphen. I asked for a higher dose, so he gives me Oxycontin 30mg, Two per day and said that if I needed more than that he would have to send me to a pain management doctor.

Have your physician refer you to a Pain Management Clinic. These Doctors are able to treat your pain with the correct dosage of Pain medicines you will need over a long period of time. This is what they are there for. Your regular Physician can't continue to perscribe you the medications that I'm sure you need, due to your condidtion. I am speaking to you about this because I see a Pain Managmenet Physician and they are GREAT!! They have actually given me my LIFE back! In the begining it takes them a little time to find out about you and your pain. But, while they are doing this, you will be treated with proper medications. I can't sing their praises enough! They understand PAIN, and know what your going through. So, Have your Family Dr. refer you to your nearest Pain Management Clinic and you'll get your life back too!! God Bless You!
