Hello to all with chronic pain and children or to those of you who have considered possibly having a baby while in chronic pain-I AM A SUCCESS STORY!! I have RSD/CRPS which is basically extensive nerve damage. This has been going on for 6 years and my hubby and I have been together slmost 14, we had our first child, beautiful boy, Blake 12.13.11 and I am so proud and relieved..he is as healthy as possible and I continued on all my meds, only after Dr. advice (making sure through records, phonecalls to other docs I have had, and their own knowledge on narcotics and pregnancy), but had excellent health care here in Southern California (which honestly was a bit surprised, as well; all know is there are many with prejudices against us with this type of pain (FYI BS!)whether medical personnel or not). I was on 100mcg of fentanayl every 48 hours and MS IR 15mg tabs twice a day, had three of the 3D ultrasounds just as precaution to his growth and knew he was 100% healthy, of course besides the minor withdrawls he had to undergo before his release from the hospital, at five months he's amazing! There is hope for us and I had no info available and needed it because I was afraid!! BUT we made it and couldn't be happier. My only problem has been since I had Blake, obviously, my body gets not even a fraction of the rest I got before so pain itself has progressively gotten worse, more annoying, and more stressful..I'd always seen a nuerologist (2 so far because we were in Arizona when I was diagnosed and moved to California 2 1/2 years ago and my biggest issue has been that I have ALWAYS been on the 100mcg every 48 and the MS IR 15mg-6 YEARS! No wonder it has progressively been getting worse but has changed even more significantly after the birth. New Dr. has upped my patch to 125mcg every 48, and MS IR to 30mg, and thats all I ever wanted was to have control I once had so still too early to see if this increase is enough??? I would love to help answer any questions or concerns for anyone, as I said I had nothing besides scary forums on fentanayl so please dont hesitate to ask me anything. We all deserve to have a child if thats what we want with our lives and with as bad as my chronic pain is and has been all these years-ANYONE CAN DO THIS!!! Good luck to all, look forward to hopefully hearing some stories:) -Blake's Mom
