Karen, tank you for this information. You presented it in a very excellent manner. One issue I did not see was any comment about Medicare. So many of us whose disorder is primarily CFS are on Medicare - we have no insurance with out-of-network doctor benefits (and some ins. don't provide them anyway).
I think we can assume, we must bear the cost of these tests 100%. Some may need to do this but many of us have no reason for that great expense. I'm hoping that I will be able to participate in a study since I'm very close to Dr. Lapp's clinic. At this point in time, I'm too old (70) for the current study. The max age is 65.

Since this test is so new, I wonder whether any insurance companies will cover it. I'd say you're right about Medicare. I'd really be surprised if they covered it. With all the attention XMRV/MLV is getting now, maybe it will eventually be covered – especially if they decide it's a threat to the blood supply. Fingers crossed. – Karen
