I used to have a lot of trouble w/TMJ.  The dentist made a bite guard for me, and it helped, but it didn't make the TMJ go away. Then I started taking a muscle relaxant at night for my arthritis and that helped a lot. I am happy to say that I have not had this very painful condition for several months now.  Seems like the arthritis meds and pain relievers helped my TMJ. I used to wake up clenching my jaws together tightly. I don't do that anymore.  Wonder if I was clenching my jaw because of the arthritis pain...???

Regardless, I sympathize with anyone experiencing the terrific pain of TMJ.  Thank you for sharing this info.

Peace,

V
